VW Amarok 2H 2.0 BiTDI – CR EGR off
What is an EGR valve?
The EGR valve is one of the emission control systems of the vehicle. It stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation. This technology helps in the reduction of Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions. It recirculates a small amount of these exhaust gas emissions back to the combustion chambers of the engine. There, the temperature for combustion gets low that reduces the amount of emitted NOx.
It is used in both gasoline engines as well as diesel engines. Also, it works for most engines, such as engines ranging from light-duty to heavy-duty ones. In modern vehicles, the engine control module (ECU) controls the EGR.
EGR Valve Removal
No doubt that an EGR valve helps in improving the efficiency of the engine. It is still not clear that whether it is safe for the vehicle or not. It is vague because recirculates the same dirty exhausts back to the engine. However, a failing and faulty EGR system or valve can cause the following problems:
- Power reduction and poor performance
- Less fuel efficiency (means consumption of more fuel than fuel)
- Reduction in the acceleration of the vehicle
- Production of more exhaust gas emissions
- Smoke emission due to excessive engine temperature
Advantages of EGR Removal
A faulty EGR can be diagnosed by the above symptoms or if the car check engine light turns on. It removal prevents the exhaust gases from recirculating back into the combustion chambers of the engine. Hence, it helps in improving the performance of gasoline or diesel engines.
This solution works by reprogramming the ECU, resulting in the lower engine temperatures and better performance overall.
Although EGR can be physically removed to enhance engine efficiency, you need this solution so you can get rid of the warning lights or fault codes and get the full benefits, including:
- Lowered Engine Temps
- Boosted Throttle Response
- Improved Economy
- Minimizes Oil Contamination
- Reduces Carbon Deposits in the engine
