Peugeot 308 T9 1.6 BlueHDI AdBlue off
What Is AdBlue?
In simple words, is a fluid used to tone down exhaust emissions. It is one of the ways of bringing your diesel’s exhaust outputs to comply with Euro 6 standards. AdBlue interacts inside your car’s Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology.
This enables it to lessen the effects of gases that contribute to global warming.
The fluid works by mixing with the fumes produced by your vehicles. Your engine produces nitrogen oxide gas which is harmful to the atmosphere. AdBlue breaks that down into nitrogen and water vapor.
Problems and Disadvantages
The problems mainly stem from the lack of AdBlue in your car’s system. Manufacturers design it to cater to the emissions’ regulations. Once that AdBlue warning light comes on, the countdown to your car’s performance will start to decrease. If you run out of the fluid, try to keep your engine running. Otherwise, the car won’t start until it gets fill.
AdBlue’s prices are another turn off. But the fact that you need to pour in another fluid every 600 miles or so might sound more tragic. However, if you know what’s good for your car, you should refill the AdBlue tank, according to the car’s OEM requirements. Choose the one with the proper ISO number otherwise face the risk of damaging your SCR Catalyst.
Car limpness, expensive prices, constant refueling for daily drivers, and a possibly damaged cat if you pour the wrong one. So many problems, but you’ll be glad to know that there’s a solution.
